Located at the end of a mile long jetty the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse was constructed in 1888 and later rebuilt in 1902 to guide vessels into Rockland Harbor, Maine. The present light is atop a 25 foot square brick tower at the corner of the fog signal house, which is joined to the keeper's dwelling. These structures rest on blocks of square granite. The flashing white light and fog signal are now automated and are still active. Visitors can use the breakwater to hike out to the lighthouse.
